GATEWAY
The Gateway course was a wonderful introduction to the Minor in Writing, and I really enjoyed gaining exposure to various writing styles and new media forms both through the assigned writing and also through working with other students in class. I underwent a big transition as a writer during the Gateway course, highlighted in my developmental essay. I began writing more spontaneously and freely, and it was intimidating, challenging, and exhilarating all at once.
I’ve included three of my favorite pieces from the Gateway course, and they best represent the new writing style and voice that I adopted: Blue, Why I Don't Write, and Why I Write. These were all written in one sitting (with later revisions, of course), and for this I think that they truly illuminate what goes on inside my head as I think about things.
